This week I met with all parents to discuss student progress. Thank you for taking the time to come in and meet with me! With most parents I discussed the importance of having students go back to the text to find details/examples to support their answers. The benefits of teaching our students to be "Text-Talkers" will last throughout their educational endeavors and beyond. A copy of our classroom "Text Talker" poster is below. Text Talking at home: Below are some question stems you can use to help your children become "text talkers" at home. Use these question stems to ask your children about the books they are reading. Practicing this skill at home will reinforce what we are working on in the classroom and prepare students to be successful in the classroom. Have a great weekend! ~ Mrs. D

This week we went on our highly anticipated trip to the Hartford Wolf Pack Educational School Day Hockey Game!! The kids had a BLAST learning about hockey, health, science, and the history of the Wolf Pack. It was an exciting game ending in a 3-1 victory for the Wolf Pack!! Science and English Language Arts Collision: Our science and reading curriculum continued to overlap this week. Students worked with several passages about volcanoes from both textbooks and for homework. We also watched some exciting video clips of the volcanoes we were learning about. See for yourself and check out some of our work by visiting the student blog page or by clicking the following link: Changes to Earth's Surface Reminders:
