This has been a great first week in school! our focus this week was on RESPECT. The students participated in team building activities that helped us to let go of past issues and focus on a positive future. After each activity we discussed what worked well and why it went well. We came up with three things that are essential to working together as a team: trust, respect, and positive communication. We read the story Mr. Lincoln's way, by Patricia Polacco, and discussed it's positive message: that despite all our "cool differences" we are all equal and worthy of respect.
Today we went into the computer lab to show all students how to log onto ClassDojo. If you are having a problem logging in please let me know. Today was the first full day that Class Dojo was in use. I think this will be a great tool to provide every student and parent with daily feedback. This week was full of a lot of procedures and beginning of the year "have-to's". Next week we will begin reading Because of Winn-Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo and diving head first into multiplication times tables. Please remember to check your child's assignment book each night! Fourth graders should be reading at least 25 minutes a night. Next week more information will come home about our book blog and students will be assigned dates. A rubric, outline, and sample book review will be given to help students plan their writing. Hope you all have a great 3 day weekend! See you on Tuesday! Mrs. D :-)

That's great! This week was so much fun. It is such a neat experience to have the same students again. I can't believe how much they have grown and matured! I think this is going to be a GREAT year!!

Morgan had a negative in the morning and afternoon. What were they? She can't seem to remember.

They were both for being off task. She was a little chatty with neighbors and I had to remind her once or twice to focus back on her work. Nothing major. Overall her behavior is great and it's truly a joy having her in class again!
